Elementary Grade 8 Homeroom Teacher (Long Term Occasional)

About the role

This position is a Long Term Occasional (LTO) appointment for a full‑time Grade 8 homeroom teacher. The role may be extended through June 2027 and is based within the York Region District School Board.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess the Grade 8 curriculum in accordance with provincial standards.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance student learning.
• Participate in school-wide events, parent‑teacher conferences, and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (or in the process of becoming qualified) before the start date.
• Provide at least three professional teaching references for external candidates or two references (including one YRDSB administrator) for internal candidates.
• Successful completion of a satisfactory police record check.
• Demonstrated commitment to student success and adherence to the collective agreement provisions.
