Director of the School of Information Science

About the role

The College of Communication and Information at the University of Kentucky is seeking a visionary leader to serve as Director of the School of Information Science. The Director will guide the school’s academic, research, and service missions, reporting directly to the Dean and shaping the future of information science education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the School of Information Science, including curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and research initiatives.
• Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and accreditation processes.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaborations within the college and with external partners.
• Represent the school to university administration, donors, and professional communities.
• Mentor faculty and support student success through academic advising and program development.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree in Information Science, Library and Information Studies, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement and leadership in higher education.
• Experience in faculty supervision, curriculum design, and external partnership development.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic environments.
