Director of Operations – Clinical Research & Innovative Medicine

About the role

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre is seeking a senior leader to direct the operations of its Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM). Reporting to both the Director of Clinical Research and the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Operations will shape strategy, ensure financial sustainability, and drive excellence across the Institute’s clinical research ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic planning and operational leadership for the CIM.
• Build, lead, and develop high‑performing teams that support clinical research excellence.
• Oversee financial stewardship, budgeting, and long‑term sustainability of CIM operations.
• Lead the integration, optimization, and expansion of clinical research platforms and services.
• Foster internal and external partnerships with industry, investigators, and institutional stakeholders.
• Implement the CIM strategic plan and align it with the Institute’s broader research strategy.
• Manage multicenter trial projects, budgets, regulatory compliance, and technical platforms.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in clinical research operations or a related healthcare environment.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
• Strong financial management and budgeting expertise.
• Experience building and motivating high‑performing teams.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership development skills.
