Director of International Strategy & Planning

About the role

Instacart is seeking a Director of International Strategy & Planning to shape and execute the go‑to‑market strategy for its platform outside North America. You will lead the International pillar of the Strategy & Planning team, working closely with cross‑functional partners to drive growth and commercial success.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own Instacart’s international retailer strategy, including vision, commercialization, and go‑to‑market planning for the full suite of platform solutions.
• Lead the Strategy & Planning pillar, collaborating with Engineering, Product, Corporate Development, Operations, Legal, Finance and other stakeholders to design the international operating model and new market entry strategy.
• Develop long‑range commercial plans, set clear targets, and prioritize high‑impact opportunities for sustained growth.
• Build the international commercial enablement system – ROI models, GTM materials, and competitive intelligence – and partner with sales teams to apply these resources.
• Work with the Strategic Partnerships team to identify and accelerate retail GTM opportunities through product and growth partnerships.
• Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and updates for senior leadership and retail partners.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in grocery, retail, or enterprise SaaS environments.
• Proven track record of developing and executing international go‑to‑market strategies.
• Strong ability to influence and align cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills for senior‑level stakeholder engagement.
