Director of Clinical Health Services

About the role

The Director of Clinical Health Services leads the delivery of culturally safe, holistic healthcare for the Seabird Island community. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the role blends traditional First Nations healing practices with modern clinical care to ensure patient‑centered services across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide culturally informed leadership for all clinical programs, including primary medical and dental care, outreach, mobile diabetes services, health quality initiatives, recovery homes, youth treatment home, and the AIMs program.
• Integrate traditional healing practices with modern medicine to create comprehensive, patient‑focused care pathways.
• Oversee staff recruitment, development, and performance management across all service areas.
• Manage program budgets, resources, and logistics to ensure efficient, sustainable operations.
• Collaborate with Community and Family Wellness, Education, Early Childhood Development, and Infrastructure departments to address social determinants of health.
• Engage with community members, stakeholders, and external partners to build relationships and advance health equity.
• Monitor outcomes, evaluate program effectiveness, and implement continuous improvement strategies.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in clinical or community health services.
• Deep understanding of First Nations cultural safety, traditions, and holistic health concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate traditional healing with modern clinical practices.
• Strong budgetary and resource management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
