About the role

Mastercard’s Security Solutions Data Science team is seeking a strategic leader to head the development of AI‑driven models that protect digital transactions. The Director, Data Science will shape the merchant risk registry and profiling capability, guiding the end‑to‑end machine‑learning lifecycle from data acquisition to production monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the strategy for merchant risk mitigation during onboarding and ongoing monitoring.
• Lead, coach, and grow a high‑performing team of Data Scientists, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
• Build a collaborative culture focused on accountability, continuous learning, and cross‑functional execution with product, engineering, and data partners.
• Design reusable data‑science assets, profiling frameworks, and scalable pipelines for feature engineering, model experimentation, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Ensure that AI/ML solutions are production‑ready, maintainable, and aligned with broader business and platform requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading data‑science teams in a fast‑moving, risk‑focused environment.
• Strong strategic mindset with the ability to translate business problems into scalable AI/ML solutions.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering end‑to‑end machine‑learning projects at scale.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
