Developmental Service Worker – Group Home Support

About the role

The Developmental Service Worker provides direct support to adults with intellectual and mental health disabilities living in group homes or halfway houses. You will assist clients with daily living tasks, promote independence, and act as a liaison with health and social service agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform administrative and office activities, including client assessments and documentation.
• Assist with housekeeping, food preparation, and personal care tasks.
• Supervise and engage clients in group home activities, resolving conflicts when they arise.
• Liaise with external social services, health care providers, and community agencies.
• Accompany clients to appointments, social outings, and community events.
• Support clients with special needs, ensuring safety and promoting skill development.

Required profile

• College or CEGEP certificate/diploma (1‑2 years) in a related field.
• Certificates: Developmental Services Worker (DSW) Training, Non‑violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid, CPR.
• Clear criminal record, child and adult abuse registry checks, and a valid driver’s licence.
• Own vehicle and ability to lift up to 13.5 kg (30 lb).
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, flexibility, initiative, and teamwork orientation.
