Designer – Formwork, Shoring & Scaffolding

About the role

We are looking for a technically skilled Designer to lead the structural analysis and design of formwork, shoring, and scaffolding solutions across diverse construction projects. You will work closely with an industry‑leading team, creating detailed design drawings, material take‑offs, and custom solutions while providing direct technical support to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design formwork, shoring, and scaffolding systems for a variety of construction projects.
• Perform and document design calculations using in‑house structural analysis software.
• Create general arrangement, assembly, and steel fabrication drawings in both 2D and 3D.
• Collaborate with Sales to deliver cost‑effective design solutions.
• Engage directly with customers to understand project scope and provide technical expertise.
• Work with internal and external engineers to ensure compliance with national and local standards (CSA, OHSA, building codes).
• Prepare and review material lists and maintain engineering documentation.
• Assist engineering interns, draftspeople, and junior designers.
• Visit job sites to provide on‑site technical support when required.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent industry experience.
• 3+ years of experience in structural engineering and construction; formwork or scaffolding design preferred.
• Strong understanding of structural and architectural drawings and construction sequencing.
• Professional judgment, high attention to detail, and ability to produce accurate work.
• Ability to provide technical expertise to internal teams and external clients.
• Knowledge of Canadian and provincial building standards and codes is an asset.
• Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Quick learner, able to work independently in a fast‑paced environment and thrive in a team‑oriented setting.
