Design Director – Workplace

About the role

Gensler is seeking a visionary Design Director to lead its Workplace design practice. The role combines strategic leadership, client partnership, and creative direction to deliver innovative, high‑impact environments that exceed client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership for the design team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
• Develop and implement strategic design initiatives aligned with client goals and business objectives.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for major projects.
• Mentor, coach, and support designers to grow their skills and unleash their potential.
• Oversee design projects from concept through execution, ensuring creative ideas meet the firm’s high standards.
• Collaborate across practice areas, integrating diverse perspectives into the design process.
• Ensure all design deliverables meet exceptional quality standards for creativity, aesthetics, and functionality.
• Stay ahead of market trends, emerging technologies, and competitive insights to keep the firm at the forefront of design excellence.

Required profile

• Current NCIDQ certification as an Interior Designer or a Licensed Architect.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Architecture, Fine Arts, or a related field.
• Proven track record of delivering exceptional design outcomes for workplace projects.
• Strong client‑facing skills and ability to translate business objectives into design solutions.
