Deputy Plant Manager

About the role

The Deputy Plant Manager supports the day‑to‑day operation of the Saint John potable water treatment plant, ensuring continuity of service, compliance with water quality standards, and effective coordination of maintenance activities. Working under the Plant Manager, this role provides functional guidance to staff and assists with documentation and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor process parameters and report any deviations from normal operation.
• Assist with routine inspections, data collection, and maintain accurate operational logs.
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, including creation and closure of work orders in the CMMS.
• Support contractor coordination, ensuring all reports and documentation are properly filed.
• Use the SCADA system at a user level to monitor alarms and trends.
• Contribute to safety compliance by participating in emergency response drills and supporting safety permit documentation.
• Help develop and maintain standard operating procedures and other operational documentation.

Required profile

• Experience with potable water treatment plant operations or similar industrial environment.
• Ability to work under direct supervision while providing functional guidance to team members.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Familiarity with coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

Required skills

• SCADA system (user‑level operation).
• CMMS for work order management.
