Data Engineer / Developer

About the role

The Bank of Canada is seeking a Developer to join its multidisciplinary Data Operations team. In this position you will help design, build, and maintain secure data pipelines that support analytics, research, digital services, and AI initiatives across the institution.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise data ingestion, transformation, and validation workflows using Databricks/Spark.
• Write production‑grade Python and SQL code for data cleaning, quality checks, and automation.
• Maintain and enhance the Bank’s cloud‑based data platform and analytics environment.
• Create reusable notebooks, patterns, and components to standardise data processing.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, demos, and code reviews.
• Collaborate with senior developers, data analysts, modelers, architects and business stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experience building scalable data pipelines in a cloud environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative, Agile team.
• Commitment to data quality, security, and documentation standards.
