Data Center Technician

About the role

Google’s Hardware Operations team is looking for a Data Center Technician to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain server hardware and software in a high‑performance data‑center environment. You will work with state‑of‑the‑art infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment and Linux‑based clusters.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, test and maintain servers, racks and related hardware components.
• Troubleshoot operating systems, computer hardware and server hardware issues.
• Configure and manage networking devices such as routers, switches, hubs and bridges, and apply networking protocols.
• Participate in or lead small project teams for larger installations and develop contingency plans.
• Perform manual movement and installation of racks, requiring physical exertion.
• Work non‑standard hours, including weekends, night shifts and holidays as needed.

Required profile

• Experience with component‑level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware and server hardware.
• Familiarity with networking protocols.
• Ability to lift/move 50 lb (23 kg) and perform physical tasks over extended periods.
• Willingness to work shift‑based schedules, including weekends and nights.
• Valid Reliability Status screening from the Government of Canada (or ability to obtain one).
