Data Analyst – Contract (6 months)

About the role

BLG, a leading Canadian law firm, is seeking a Data Analyst on a six‑month contract to support its data management initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Management, you will help implement the firm’s enterprise data strategy and contribute to data governance, quality, and warehouse projects.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain data definitions and establish data quality standards across the organization.
• Assist in the implementation of a data warehouse platform using Microsoft Fabric, focusing on centralisation and protection of sensitive data.
• Collaborate with data owners and stakeholders to understand data needs and help develop tactical and strategic roadmaps.
• Support the deployment of a data catalog solution and manage technical metadata and data glossaries.
• Participate in historical data quality and cleanup initiatives, creating validation rules for enterprise systems.
• Implement master/reference data management standards and enforce governance procedures.
• Develop monitoring and reporting processes to ensure data quality and compliance with policies.
• Maintain an inventory of enterprise data sources, including authoritative systems and owners.

Required profile

• Experience working with diverse stakeholders on data‑related projects.
• Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and master data management concepts.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and data solutions.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
