Course Lecturer – Third Professional Seminar (Secondary)

About the role

McGill University is seeking a qualified Course Lecturer to teach EDEC 351-001, Third Professional Seminar (Secondary) in the Fall 2026 term. This 2‑credit course meets on Fridays from 11:35 am to 1:25 pm in the Education Building (EDUC 338) and focuses on professional portfolios, competencies, and preparation for field experience.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and facilitate discussions on unit and lesson planning, critical analysis, and self‑reflection.
• Guide students in developing professional portfolios aligned with Quebec Education Program standards.
• Coordinate with the DISE team to ensure course objectives are met and attend planning meetings at least two weeks before the start date.
• Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience in exceptional cases).
• Teaching degree or equivalent with experience teaching in secondary schools.
• Expert knowledge of the course content and the Quebec Education Program.
• Familiarity with the professional competencies set by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
• Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary/secondary system and prior success teaching similar courses to pre‑service teachers.
• Commitment to teamwork and availability for coordination meetings.

Required skills

• Proficiency with myCourses or similar Learning Management Systems.
• Experience using Zoom or comparable video‑conferencing tools.
• Ability to deliver blended (in‑person and online) instruction.
• Strong technology skills for classroom integration.
