Course Lecturer – Introductory Modern Greek (CLAS 230 D1)

About the role

The Department of History and Classical Studies at McGill University is seeking a qualified instructor to teach Introductory Modern Greek (CLAS 230 D1) during the Fall 2026 term. The course runs from August 31 to December 4, with classes on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:35 am to 12:55 pm in Leacock Building, Room 617.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver in‑person lectures and facilitate classroom discussions for a beginner‑level Greek language course.
• Prepare and grade assignments, exams, and provide timely feedback to students.
• Maintain course materials, attendance records, and adhere to university academic policies.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development as needed.

Required profile

• PhD or ABD in Greek language, literature, or a closely related field (preferred).
• Demonstrated experience teaching Greek language at the post‑secondary level.
• Fluency in modern Greek is mandatory.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
