Course Lecturer – Introduction to Oceanic Sciences (ATOC 182)

About the role

McGill University seeks a qualified Course Lecturer to teach Introduction to Oceanic Sciences (ATOC 182) in the Fall 2026 term. The position involves delivering three hours of lecture per week for a 13‑week semester.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver formal lectures on seawater properties, wind‑driven and geostrophic ocean circulations, and related topics.
• Lead class discussions and facilitate student engagement.
• Administer tests and examinations in accordance with McGill regulations.
• Mark assignments and exams, and submit final grades using McGill’s online systems.
• Coordinate with teaching assistants based on an enrollment forecast of approximately 150 students.

Required profile

• PhD in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences or a closely related field.
• Prior experience teaching comparable university‑level courses, preferably at McGill.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of physical oceanography and related scientific concepts.
• Familiarity with McGill’s academic grading and course management platforms.
