About the role
The Department of Political Science at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer to teach POLI 448-001, Gender and International Relations, during the Fall 2026 semester. This part‑time position involves delivering lectures, guiding discussions, and assessing student performance.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver two weekly 80‑minute lectures (Monday and Wednesday, 1:05 pm‑2:25 pm) for the entire semester.
- Prepare and update course materials, including syllabi, reading lists, and presentation slides.
- Design and grade assignments, exams, and class participation.
- Hold regular office hours to support student learning.
- Collaborate with department faculty on curriculum development and course evaluation.
Required profile
- A completed PhD or enrollment in a doctoral program in Political Science or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated teaching ability, preferably with experience teaching gender‑focused or international‑relations courses.
- Specialization that aligns closely with gender analysis and feminist approaches to international relations.
- Experience as a teaching assistant is considered an asset.
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of gender theory and feminist perspectives in international relations.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
