About the role

McGill University’s Department of Sociology is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the Course Lecturer for SOCI 212 – International Migration in the Fall 2026 term. The position involves delivering in‑person lectures, guiding class discussions, and supporting student learning throughout the semester.

Key responsibilities

  • Teach SOCI 212 International Migration on Tuesdays and Thursdays (8:35 – 9:55 am) in Burnside Hall, room 1B45.
  • Present course material covering migration theories, constraints, and integration issues.
  • Facilitate classroom discussions and case‑study analyses.
  • Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and participation.

Required profile

  • PhD or ABD in Sociology.
  • Successful completion of area examinations.
  • Prior experience as a teaching assistant or course lecturer for SOCI 212 or a comparable sociology course.
  • Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work on the Montreal campus.
  • Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written.
