Course Lecturer – First Year Professional Seminar (EDEC 201-005)

About the role

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer for the First Year Professional Seminar (EDEC 201-005) in Fall 2026. This 1‑credit course introduces pre‑service teachers to school culture, the teaching profession, and the complexities of the teacher role.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver weekly lectures and facilitate classroom activities on Fridays, 11:35 am–2:25 pm.
• Develop and assess competencies and professional portfolios of pre‑service teachers.
• Coordinate with the DISE teaching team and attend planning meetings at least two weeks before the course start.
• Utilize the myCourses platform and Zoom for any supplemental online components.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience) and a teaching qualification.
• Demonstrated experience teaching in schools, preferably within the Quebec elementary/secondary system.
• Expert knowledge of the course content, the Quebec Education Program, and the Ministry’s Professional Competencies.
• Commitment to collaborative work with a team of instructors.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the myCourses learning management system.
• Familiarity with Zoom or similar video‑conferencing platforms.
