Course Lecturer – First Year Professional Seminar (EDEC 201-001)

About the role

McGill University’s Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) seeks a qualified Course Lecturer to deliver the First Year Professional Seminar (EDEC 201-001) in the Fall 2026 term. The role involves introducing pre‑service teachers to school culture, the teaching profession, and the complexities of the teacher role.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver weekly three‑hour lectures and facilitate classroom activities on Friday mornings.
• Present content on school functioning, professional competencies, and the Quebec Education Program.
• Assess student competencies and maintain professional portfolios.
• Participate in course coordination and planning meetings at least two weeks before the start date.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience in exceptional cases).
• Teaching degree or equivalent credential.
• Demonstrated experience teaching in schools, preferably within the Quebec elementary/secondary system.
• Expert knowledge of the course subject matter and familiarity with the Quebec Education Program and Ministry‑specified professional competencies.
• Commitment to collaborative work with a team of instructors.

Required skills

• Proficiency with myCourses learning management system.
• Experience using Zoom or similar online meeting platforms.
