Course Lecturer – Elementary School Mathematics 1 (EDEE 230-002)

About the role

McGill University’s Department of Integrated Studies in Education seeks a Course Lecturer for the Fall 2026 term to teach Elementary School Mathematics 1 (EDEE 230-002). The position involves delivering a three‑credit, in‑person course to pre‑service elementary teachers, focusing on mathematical content, student reasoning, and pedagogy.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver weekly lectures and tutorials on elementary mathematics concepts.
• Design and grade assignments, exams, and other assessments.
• Provide feedback to students to support their development of mathematical understanding.
• Collaborate with the DISE teaching team and attend coordination meetings at least two weeks before the course start.
• Maintain alignment with the Quebec elementary mathematics program and professional competencies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent research/professional experience) in education or a related field.
• Teaching degree or equivalent certification and experience teaching in elementary schools.
• Demonstrated expertise in elementary math pedagogy and knowledge of the Quebec Education Program.
• Previous successful experience teaching similar courses to pre‑service teachers.
• Commitment to teamwork and availability for planning meetings.
