Corporate Reliability Engineering Co-Op

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a manufacturer of roofing and building materials based in Brampton, Ontario, is looking for a co-op student to assist Corporate Reliability Engineers. The co-op supports the development and implementation of reliability systems and processes for IKO plants in North America and Europe, working alongside reliability engineers, maintenance supervisors and planners.

Key responsibilities

• Help develop and implement systems such as DNA, Maximo, SOPs, WI's, test scripts and training videos, and standardization of MRO items, assets and preventive maintenance.
• Perform data analysis, categorize parts and analyze parts usage rates.
• Review drawings and field labels on assets to build a cross-reference with standardized asset names used at other sites.
• Work with the Plant Maintenance Supervisor, Reliability Engineer, Inventory Coordinator and planners to advance the Top 5 Reliability initiatives.
• Collect and analyze downtime data in Prodac, export it to Excel and the CMMS, and trend highly critical equipment with common failure patterns.
• Support the standardization of failure modes and preventive and predictive maintenance tasks.
• Create hyperlinks between PDF drawings and service requests, bills of materials and manuals, and recommend ways to standardize and categorize these items.
• Update asset information in drawings and help optimize spare parts for preventive and predictive maintenance inspections.
• Collect evidence and data for root cause analysis investigations and develop and update CMMS SOPs, WI's, test scripts and training videos.

Required profile

• Fluent in English.
• Self-starter eager to work.
• Troubleshooting capability is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel, including Pareto charts, bar charts, look-up tables, pivot tables and drop-down menus.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
