Concrete Batch Plant Operator

About the role

RM Mobile, a division of RMC Group of Companies, is hiring a Concrete Batch Plant Operator for a major project in Sturgeon County, Alberta. The operator safely and efficiently produces ready-mix concrete to meet quality standards and customer specifications, operating plant controls to batch and load mixer trucks, performing quality control tests and monitoring equipment and raw material inventories.

Key responsibilities

• Read specification sheets to determine aggregate sizes and the proportions of cement and water needed for each batch.
• Manage controls for heating, weighing, mixing aggregates, cement and water so the concrete meets processing specifications.
• Receive and inspect raw materials and monitor plant inventories.
• Control the flow and volume of material into mixer trucks.
• Ensure 100% quality compliance, taking samples and testing as required.
• Perform quality control tests such as air and slump, adding materials as needed.
• Monitor gauges and indicators to ensure machinery works properly, attend meetings, wear PPE and take part in the company safety program.

Required profile

• 1-2 years of prior experience batching in a concrete plant.
• Valid Class 5 licence and clean driver's abstract.
• Experience with aggregate materials and quality control testing; experience mobilizing/demobilizing a batch plant is an asset.
• First aid, WHMIS and CSTS certifications are an asset.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and sit or stand for long periods; work in general labour positions is required.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol test required.

Hours vary by project, typically 8-12-hour shifts, including day, afternoon or night shifts. The position is based in Sturgeon County, Alberta.
