Cook – Seniors Living Retirement

About the role

Sampson & Rouse (S&R) Seniors Living is looking for a cook for its retirement homes in Sarnia. The work supports the physical and emotional well-being of residents in a warm, welcoming culinary atmosphere, with reasonable hours that leave evenings free.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare delicious, nutritious meals from scratch, following residents' dietary needs and texture modifications with standardized recipes and safe practices.
• Cook in batches and manage multiple stations so meals are served on time and at the right temperature.
• Keep the kitchen clean, safe and sanitary through strong food safety habits, including handwashing and routine cleaning and sanitizing.
• Check and record food temperatures to comply with policies, Public Health regulations and Ministry of Health guidelines.
• Operate, clean and maintain kitchen equipment safely.
• Contribute to special events such as holiday dinners and summer barbecues, and support the team as needed.

Required profile

• Certification in the Food Safety Awareness course, with recertification every 5 years.
• Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) check completed within the past 6 months.
