About the role
Bento Sushi is seeking a dedicated Cook to join its Halifax kitchen team. You will be responsible for preparing a range of Japanese dishes in a fast‑paced environment while ensuring high standards of food quality and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook complete meals and individual dishes, including Japanese specialties such as sushi and ramen.
- Accommodate customers with food allergies or intolerances by preparing safe alternatives.
- Inspect kitchen and food service areas to ensure cleanliness and compliance with health standards.
- Order supplies and equipment, maintain inventory records, and manage stock levels.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff and helpers in food preparation, cooking techniques, and safe handling.
Required profile
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment and handle pressure.
- Flexibility, strong organization, and a team‑player attitude.
- Experience in a kitchen setting is an asset.
Required skills
- Knowledge of Japanese cuisine preparation.
- Food safety and hygiene practices.
