Controller – Finance Operations Lead

About the role

Electric Mind is seeking a Controller to build a best‑in‑class accounting function across its US and Canadian offices. The Controller will join the finance team, own operational and compliance accounting activities, and design the systems and processes needed for rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement scalable internal controls and processes.
• Assess current software and drive AI‑enabled automation improvements.
• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting and payroll operations.
• Lead, coach, and expand a team of four accountants, handling hiring and performance management.
• Manage month‑end close and external financial reporting requirements.
• Provide timely financial analysis to support management decisions.
• Own the audit process and prepare complex transactions for review.
• Assist with tax compliance and payroll year‑end processes.
• Maintain the company cap table.
• Support FP&A with budgeting and annual forecasting.
• Handle intercompany accounting and transfer pricing between US and Canadian entities.

Required profile

• CPA designation.
• 7+ years of finance and accounting experience, including experience outside a professional services firm.
• US financial compliance and reporting expertise.
• Proven ability to lead audits and manage tax and payroll compliance.
• Strong ownership of the full close‑to‑report cycle.
• Motivated, autonomous, and capable of designing efficient controls.
• Payroll management experience, including year‑end processing.
• Experience with NetSuite.
