Controller – Corporate Finance

About the role

We are seeking a leadership‑driven Controller to head the corporate finance division of an established international financial institution in downtown Toronto. This permanent, full‑time position offers direct exposure to the CFO, CEO, and executive committees, positioning the successful candidate for rapid advancement toward AVP and VP levels.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and accuracy of all corporate financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
• Lead strategic budgeting, financial projection modeling, and long‑term financial planning.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop the corporate accounting and analyst team, ensuring balanced workloads and technical excellence.
• Direct regulatory reporting, including capital, liquidity, and financial disclosures to OSFI and other Canadian authorities.
• Manage corporate tax filings, regulatory compliance audits (e.g., CRA), and serve as primary liaison for external auditors.
• Maintain compliance with IFRS and oversee internal financial reporting packages.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of progressive corporate finance or accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the banking industry.
• CPA or CA designation (or candidate in final stages of certification).
• Strong leadership mindset with ability to partner across all organizational levels.
• Willingness to work onsite five days a week in downtown Toronto.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel for financial modeling.
• In‑depth knowledge of IFRS reporting standards.
• Strong familiarity with OSFI capital and liquidity guidelines.
• Financial modeling expertise.
