Construction Site Assistant / Carpenter (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Novacom is seeking a hands‑on Construction Site Assistant / Carpenter to support the Site Superintendent on a new ground‑up McDonald’s restaurant in Penticton, BC. This fixed‑term, on‑site position runs from early August to the end of October 2026 and focuses on keeping the site organized, safe, and on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Site Superintendent with daily site operations to ensure smooth progress.
• Perform carpentry and general handyman tasks such as backing, building hoarding, and formwork.
• Maintain site cleanliness and organization for efficient trade access.
• Coordinate with trades, confirming readiness and helping to keep the schedule moving.
• Carry out safety duties including daily hazard assessments, site inspections, sign‑in sheets, and trade orientations under the COR Safety Program.
• Document progress with photos, daily logs, and Procore updates.
• Address and close out deficiencies at project completion.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Carpentry ticket or trade qualification is an asset; apprentices and Red Seal Carpenters are welcome.
• Self‑motivated, reliable, and able to work independently without close supervision.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving abilities with supervisors, team members, and subcontractors.
