Construction Nurse – Occupational Health

About the role

The Construction Nurse provides safe, responsible nursing care to workers on site, supporting occupational health programs and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This role is based in Ottawa and serves the OLRT project within the Eastern Canada district.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver primary nursing care for occupational and non‑occupational illnesses and injuries.
• Manage occupational health programs to maintain a healthy workforce and reduce health risks.
• Ensure safe storage, usage, and documentation of medications in the first‑aid room.
• Collect injury data, conduct health assessments, and perform confidential medical examinations.
• Provide first aid, over‑the‑counter medications, immunizations, and health education.
• Coordinate case management via telehealth and schedule follow‑up appointments.
• Participate in safety walks and develop, implement, and evaluate safety policies.
• Conduct return‑to‑work assessments and arrange modified work accommodations.
• Liaise with management, occupational health physicians, safety teams, claims, HR, and external health specialists.
• Perform point‑of‑care testing after incidents and for reasonable suspicion.

Required profile

• Current registration as an occupational nurse, registered nurse, or nurse practitioner.
• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience; critical‑care experience preferred.
• Ability to work onsite 8‑10 hours per day with reliable attendance.

Required skills

• Valid CPR certification.
• ACLS, BTLS/PHTLS, and ATLS certifications.
• Case management experience.
• Point‑of‑care testing proficiency.
• Strong computer skills.
