Conflicts Specialist – 1 Year Contract

About the role

Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP is seeking a Conflicts Specialist to support its Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. This one‑year contract position reports to the General Counsel Office and focuses on managing conflict‑of‑interest searches, file openings, and related risk‑management workflows in a fast‑paced law‑firm environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily conflict search requests, ensuring efficient workflow and timely responses.
• Conduct conflict‑of‑interest searches using Intapp Conflicts and internal/external databases.
• Develop and refine search parameters and rules to improve search efficiency.
• Escalate conflict reports to the General Counsel’s Office when appropriate.
• Establish and maintain ethical screens or confidentiality walls as required.
• Respond to internal inquiries regarding conflicts, file opening, and risk protocols.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, professional conduct rules, and regulatory obligations.
• Open and maintain client files in accordance with firm standards.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary diploma or equivalent experience in a legal, accounting, or professional services setting.
• 1–3 years of experience in conflicts, intake, risk management, or project management, preferably within the legal industry.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Independent worker with sound judgment and the ability to solve problems proactively.
