Composite Sand, Paint & Prep Technician

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Composite Sand, Paint & Prep Technician to join our production team in Fort Erie. The role involves end‑to‑end surface preparation, masking, coating and inspection of composite and metallic panels in compliance with Airbus Helicopters specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Apply primer and top‑coat using spray guns inside a paint booth, following defined processes.
• Maintain the paint booth daily, including floor wetting, fault reporting and equipment cleaning.
• Operate orbital sanders, sanding blocks and sandpaper to prepare composite panels.
• Mix and apply filler compounds to eliminate pinholes and surface defects.
• Clean panels with compressed air and solvent‑based solutions before masking.
• Apply and cut masking tape and paper precisely according to templates and component contours.
• Assist with loading, unloading and de‑masking of components.
• Inspect cured panels for defects and measure paint thickness with specialized gauges.
• Uphold 5S standards and safety procedures to keep a clean, FOD‑free workspace.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in composite sanding, painting and surface preparation.
• Ability to work rotating shifts (6:00 AM‑2:30 PM / 3:00 PM‑11:30 PM).
• Familiarity with Airbus Helicopters or similar aerospace specifications.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
