Community Peace Officer Level 1 (CPO1)

About the role

The City of Lloydminster is seeking a Community Peace Officer Level 1 (CPO1) to provide essential policing support, enforce provincial statutes and municipal bylaws, and act as a liaison with the RCMP. This full‑time, continuing position involves shift work across days, evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce a range of provincial Acts (Traffic Safety, Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis, Environmental Protection, Provincial Offences, Animal Protection, etc.) and all municipal bylaws.
• Conduct vehicle, bike and foot patrols, provide animal control services, and respond to community incidents.
• Document incidents in the approved reporting software and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Participate in public education programs, community meetings, and safety initiatives.
• Investigate incidents, prepare court testimony, and collaborate with prosecutors and the RCMP.
• Assist in the development and revision of municipal bylaws and serve on community‑based policing committees.

• Demonstrated leadership and ability to mentor junior staff.
• Commitment to the highest standards of ethics, confidentiality, and the RCMP enhanced security policy.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and holidays.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with residents, community groups, and law‑enforcement partners.
