Community Librarian

About the role

The Community Librarian joins the Lambton County Library system to deliver front‑line service to patrons and support library staff. This role focuses on creating welcoming library experiences and extending library programs into the surrounding communities.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and deliver library programs, outreach activities and partnership initiatives with community groups, agencies and businesses.
• Collaborate with Public Services Coordinators, Technical Librarian and Library Supervisors to achieve strategic library goals.
• Identify community needs, trends and demographics to shape relevant services.
• Provide in‑depth information, readers’ advisory and reference services to patrons.
• Promote reading, lifelong learning and library resources throughout the region.
• Deliver presentations and training sessions both inside the library and in community venues.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑service orientation with the ability to engage diverse community members.
• Experience planning, coordinating and evaluating outreach programs.
• Ability to work collaboratively with library staff and external partners.
• Commitment to the strategic direction set by senior management and council.
