Commercial Space Designer – Contract (12‑month)

About the role

Tayco, a modern office‑furniture manufacturer, is seeking a Commercial Space Designer on a 12‑month contract to join its Commercial Space Design team in Etobicoke. The role blends design expertise with sales support, helping customers visualize and select the right furniture solutions for commercial environments.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and manage approximately 90 quotations per month, prioritising requests based on dealer tier and deadline.
• Gather project specifications from customers and develop 2D/3D drawings, coloured renderings and detailed parts lists.
• Filter special requests through the Engineering Decision Tree and coordinate custom engineering items when needed.
• Present final designs, pricing and recommendations to customers, proactively suggesting add‑ons to increase satisfaction and profitability.
• Collaborate with sales, customer service and order analysts to ensure a smooth transition from quote to order.
• Cover territories and orders for team members during absences and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Degree, diploma or certificate in Interior Design, Industrial Design, Engineering or a related field, or at least two years relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of Tayco’s product portfolio and ability to communicate specifications clearly.
• Experience reading and recreating architectural drawings and floor plans.
• Project‑management experience is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CET, AutoCAD, CADKEY, 20‑20, Giza and other rendering software.
• Ability to produce accurate 2D and 3D design documentation.
• Competence in preparing quotations, pricing calculations and material up‑charge assessments.
