Clinical Research Coordinator II

About the role

The Clinical Research Coordinator II will support the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT at UBC Hospital by executing clinical trial protocols, assisting the Clinical Trials Unit manager, and supervising the Clinical Research Associates team. The role involves close collaboration with physicians, research staff, and external sponsors to ensure high‑quality study conduct.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of assigned clinical trials, including data collection, sample handling, and case report form completion.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate research staff such as students, technicians, and CRAs.
• Develop and implement training plans, policies, and procedures aligned with Good Clinical Practice.
• Review study protocols, assess feasibility, and organize study activities.
• Prepare documentation, electronic databases, and data capture tools for new complex trials.
• Coordinate audit and monitoring visits, address findings, and implement corrective actions.
• Liaise with clinical staff, co‑investigators, sponsors, and external stakeholders for study logistics and adverse event reporting.
• Represent the principal investigator in meetings, teleconferences, and research committees.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent combination of education and at least four years of related experience).
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and willingness to respect diverse perspectives.

Required skills

• Knowledge of medical terminology and patient record systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
• Familiarity with database management programs.
• SoCRA certification (or willingness to obtain within one year).
• CCRP certification (recommended).
