Civil Construction Estimator

About the role

Knappett Industries is seeking a Civil Construction Estimator for its Courtenay office. The role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates and competitive tenders for civil infrastructure projects, ensuring successful construction outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for earth works, site works, road construction, and underground utilities.
• Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to develop quantity take‑offs and pricing strategies.
• Utilize estimating software such as MS Excel and HeavyBid to produce detailed proposals.
• Identify and pursue opportunities in both public and private sectors.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and other Estimators to review tenders and refine estimates.
• Participate in pre‑construction planning, bid reviews, and post‑award project kick‑offs.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of cumulative experience in civil construction estimating.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Excellent organization, communication, and multitasking skills.
• Proficient written and verbal communication.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel).
• HeavyBid estimating software.
• MS Project knowledge.
