Child and Youth Worker – After‑School Program (Contract)

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated Child and Youth Worker to deliver our After‑School Program for Grades 1‑6 in Hamilton. The role is unionized, part‑time and runs from September 2026 to June 2027, providing a safe, engaging environment for children.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, plan, promote, implement and evaluate daily operations of the After‑School Program.
• Ensure compliance with funder requirements and Ministry guidelines.
• Oversee student placements, volunteers and staffing, completing required evaluations.
• Provide quality supervision and learning experiences for children, maintaining enrollment targets.
• Escort children using prescribed attendance procedures and maintain accurate paperwork.
• Promote the program in the community and maintain relationships with schools.
• Identify and report facility, supply, and public‑relations needs.
• Gather statistics, stories and data on program performance and submit time‑sheets and incident reports.

Required profile

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Sport & Leisure, Child and Youth Work or related field.
• Minimum two years experience working with children aged 6‑12 and community partners.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience working with culturally diverse, LGBTQ+, newcomer and young‑parent families.
• Bilingual in French/English; additional languages (Arabic, Urdu, Somali) an asset.
• Current First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling and relevant certifications.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to multiple sites.
