Canola Breeding Summer Associate

About the role

This 6‑month summer position supports BASF’s Agricultural Solutions team in Regina, SK, focusing on canola breeding field trials. You will work on‑site to help develop high‑performing hybrids that deliver strong returns for growers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with all phases of field trials, from land preparation and seeding to harvest.
• Perform crop health monitoring, pest control, pollination management, and plot maintenance.
• Collect and record data on variety performance and assist with seed set‑up.
• Support parental line development and assist with registration activities.
• Supervise casual employees as needed during peak periods.

Required profile

• Current enrollment in or recent graduation (within 2 years) from an Agriculture‑related degree or diploma program.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and flexibility to adapt plans as conditions change.
• Interest in canola development and ability to work toward individual and team goals.
• Basic understanding of breeding and agronomic principles.

Required skills

• Knowledge of field trial procedures and crop health diagnostics.
