About the role

The Canada Impact+ Research Chair Nominee in Health will lead a world‑class research program at Algoma University’s Department of Biology and Environmental Science. The chair is funded through the federal Impact+ initiative and aims to translate health‑related discoveries into societal and economic benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an ambitious, interdisciplinary research agenda addressing national and global health challenges.
• Secure and manage Impact+ funding, including reporting and external review processes.
• Build and mentor a high‑performing research team, including graduate students and post‑doctoral fellows.
• Foster collaborations with industry, government, and community partners to advance commercialization and knowledge mobilization.
• Contribute to teaching and service activities within the Faculty of Science.

Required profile

• Established record of research excellence in health‑related fields, with evidence of high‑impact publications.
• Demonstrated ability to attract external research funding and lead large, multidisciplinary teams.
