Business Unit Controller – Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for a strategic, hands‑on Business Unit Controller to join the senior leadership team of a premier manufacturing organization. In this position you will own all financial and accounting functions for the business unit while acting as a trusted advisor to plant operations and executive leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements with deep‑dive variance analysis and operational insights.
• Lead business case development, financial modeling, and competitor analysis to drive profitability.
• Review and financially justify major capital‑expenditure requests.
• Apply complex accounting and valuation concepts, including fixed‑asset evaluations and capital leases.
• Partner with plant management to analyze standard‑cost variances, inventory valuation, and manufacturing performance.
• Oversee internal controls, identify process gaps, and mitigate risk.
• Direct the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
• Manage and mentor a finance team covering AP, AR, and accounting functions.

Required profile

• CPA professional designation.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in a large, complex manufacturing environment.
• Proven expertise in standard costing, inventory management, and plant‑level operational analysis.
• Strong financial modeling abilities and a self‑starter attitude.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
