Business Development Manager

About the role

The Business Development Manager will drive revenue growth for Nippon Express in Eastern Canada by building new customer relationships and expanding existing accounts across trucking, brokerage, air and ocean cargo forwarding, and contract logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Generate net revenue from a new‑business pipeline (target 15%).
• Achieve annual volume targets and coordinate sales activities for the NECA business.
• Initiate sales initiatives with new and existing customers for trucking, brokerage, air and ocean cargo services.
• Identify and develop opportunities with prospective clients and expand business with current customers.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and provide excellent service.
• Collaborate with NECA branches, negotiate with internal global teams and external subcontractors.
• Prepare accurate reports and handle additional sales‑related tasks assigned by management.

Required profile

• Previous experience in freight forwarding or brokerage sales (preferred).
• Advanced selling and networking abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and handle stressful situations.
• Willingness to work outside regular office hours and travel domestically/internationally.
• Valid Ontario driver’s licence (G/G2) and personal vehicle for customer visits.
