Bilingual Payroll Tax Analyst (Canada)

About the role

Spencer Thomas Group is seeking a bilingual (English/French) Payroll Tax Analyst to support a client’s Canadian payroll tax compliance on a project basis. The role involves reviewing, processing and submitting payroll tax amendments, preparing T4 and RL‑1 slips, and managing interactions with the Canada Revenue Agency and Revenu Québec.

Key responsibilities

• Review, process and submit payroll tax amendments for Canadian jurisdictions.
• Prepare and correct T4 and RL‑1 slips in accordance with CRA and Revenu Québec requirements.
• Analyze and resolve prior‑year taxability issues, identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Manage and respond to CRA and Revenu Québec audits and related correspondence.
• Collaborate with federal, provincial and local agencies to prioritize and resolve outstanding tax issues.
• Share best practices for payroll tax setups, procedures and general‑ledger impacts.
• Communicate findings and recommendations fluently in both English and French.

Required profile

• Fluent in written and spoken English and French.
• Deep knowledge of Canadian payroll tax requirements, including T4 and RL‑1 reporting and amendments.
• Hands‑on experience managing CRA and Revenu Québec audits and agency correspondence.
• Strong analytical ability to research and resolve prior‑year taxability discrepancies.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a client‑facing environment.
