Backend Engineer (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a talented Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain high‑performance backend services for our digital products. This fully remote contract role offers the chance to work alongside top‑tier engineers in a fast‑moving, expert environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that meet demanding performance requirements.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to translate business needs into technical specifications and impactful backend solutions.
• Optimize backend systems for reliability, security, and efficiency, ensuring seamless user experiences.
• Write clean, well‑documented, and thoroughly tested code following best engineering practices.
• Participate actively in code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge‑sharing sessions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues, focusing on root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to architecture discussions, bringing innovative ideas and a solutions‑oriented mindset.

Required profile

• 3+ years of proven experience in backend development using modern programming languages.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, proactive attitude.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, fully remote expert team environment.

Required skills

• Design and implementation of RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Proficiency with relational databases (SQL) and NoSQL databases, including data modeling.
• Deep understanding of system security, authentication, and authorization best practices.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Containerization using Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with event‑driven or serverless architectures (preferred).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
