AVP, Transformation Delivery, Transition and Readiness

About the role

Manulife Canada is running one of its largest operational transformation programs, retiring legacy workflow platforms, re-engineering processes and modernizing technology with AI-enabled automation. The AVP, Transformation Delivery, Transition and Readiness leads the program's delivery, transition management, operational readiness, release governance and the legacy workflow retirement roadmap across multiple waves. The role sits at the intersection of operations, technology and delivery and is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Program and portfolio delivery: own the transformation roadmap, govern schedules and milestones, manage dependencies, lead governance forums and executive reporting, and maintain integrated views of scope, timeline, financials and risks.
• PMO leadership: lead and develop the Program Management Office, set governance standards, oversee RAID management and coordinate planning across business, technology and delivery workstreams.
• Transition management: define the enterprise transition strategy, interim-state operating models and coexistence strategies, coordinate cutover and rollout, and manage hypercare and post-deployment support.
• Operational readiness: define readiness frameworks and checkpoints, set release-level go-live criteria, coordinate readiness assessments and govern release approvals.
• Ecosystem coordination: manage cross-platform dependencies, track platform onboarding and retirement, partner with Architecture, Engineering and Technology on release readiness and govern temporary bridge solutions.
• Workflow system retirement: maintain the retirement execution plan, track dependencies, coordinate enterprise-wide planning and support final decommissioning.

Required profile

• 10+ years leading large-scale enterprise transformation programs.
• Experience managing multi-year technology and operations transformation initiatives and establishing PMO and governance functions.
• Experience executing phased technology migrations and platform retirements.
• Experience managing third-party delivery partners and systems integrators.
• Preferred: financial services, insurance or operations transformation experience.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with AWD or a comparable workflow platform such as Pega, Appian or FileNet at scale.
• Experience establishing reusable automation components or shared engineering services.
• Experience delivering transformation in a federally regulated financial institution, including OSFI expectations for change and outsourcing.
