Automotive Technician (Light Vehicle Mechanic)

About the role

Elk Valley Resources (EVR), a steelmaking coal producer in the Elk Valley of British Columbia, is recruiting an Automotive Technician (Light Vehicle Mechanic) for its site-based operations. The role reports to the Light Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor and covers maintenance and repair of the light vehicle fleet and mine equipment. It is a full-time hourly position on a 4x4 day-and-night schedule, and reliable commuting to or relocation near Sparwood, B.C. is required.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair light vehicles and other light-duty equipment
• Identify warrantable repairs and process documents for repair orders
• Perform routine preventative maintenance such as inspections, lubricating, oil changes and failure analysis
• Troubleshoot, repair and rebuild components such as engines, transmissions, cooling, fuel and exhaust systems, clutches and differentials
• Ensure tools and equipment are kept in safe working condition
• Enter data into computer systems for work orders and parts ordering
• Follow health and safety programs and policies

Required profile

• Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Automotive Service Technician certification
• Valid driver's licence
• Ability to commute to or relocate near Sparwood, B.C.
• Commercial transport experience or ticket is an asset; familiarity with Ford and Dodge vehicles is an asset

• Salary range of $131,000 - $134,000 CAD per year, based on hourly wage plus shift premiums
