Associate Pastor - Youth & Young Adults

About the role

Fort City Church in Fort McMurray, Alberta is looking for a seasoned pastoral leader to act as Associate Pastor with a portfolio covering youth and young adults. The role is a strategic second-chair position alongside the Lead Pastor, focusing on youth ministry, young adults ministry, preaching and leadership development. It is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Youth ministry leadership: provide spiritual, relational and strategic leadership for the youth, recruit, train and equip youth leaders, oversee gatherings, small groups, retreats and events, and build a discipleship pathway from Grade 7 through graduation.
• Young adults ministry: create rhythms of gathering, discipleship, leadership development, pastoral care and mission, and connect young adults to the wider church.
• Preaching: contribute 10-12 Sundays a year to the preaching team, preparing sermons and providing Sunday leadership such as hosting, prayer, communion and baptisms.
• Leadership development: identify, develop and release emerging leaders, and take part in staff meetings, ministry planning and churchwide initiatives.
• Administration: manage ministry budgets, calendars, communication, volunteer screening and safety requirements.

Required profile

• Agreement with the church's mission, values and the Alliance Statement of Faith.
• Pastoral ministry experience, youth/young adult leadership experience and preaching experience.
• Proven ability to recruit and develop leaders, and strong communication and organizational skills.
• Theological foundation through theological education or personalized study.
• Legally able and eligible to work in Canada.

What we offer

• Salary of $75,000-$85,000 per year.
