Associate Director, Undergraduate Medical Admissions

About the role

The Associate Director, Undergraduate Medical Admissions supports the Executive Director of the Admissions Office and leads the delivery of holistic, multi‑criteria selection processes for the MDCM and Med‑P programs on both the Montreal and Outaouais campuses. This senior role ensures the Faculty of Medicine meets its recruitment goals while upholding provincial policies and maintaining a high‑quality student body.

Key responsibilities

• Build and manage a strong admissions team, overseeing staffing, work distribution, and specialized training.
• Prepare and monitor the admissions budget, allocate resources, and manage essential IT tools such as the Slate recruitment management system.
• Counsel Chairs of MDCM and School Admissions Committees on operational impacts of committee decisions.
• Advise the Assistant Dean on goals, objectives, and implementation of recommendations.
• Oversee the MDCM and School admissions processes, ensuring validation of selection criteria and tools.
• Act as a resource for other health‑professional program admissions teams, promoting shared best practices.
• Evaluate the impact of recruitment strategies and selection criteria on student quality using defined metrics.
• Supervise the interview process in collaboration with the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading an admissions or recruitment team in a higher‑education setting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, and complex operational workflows.
• Strong knowledge of provincial government policies affecting medical education admissions.
• Experience advising senior academic leaders and translating committee recommendations into actionable plans.
• Ability to foster cross‑functional teamwork across faculty units.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Slate (Student Recruitment Management application) or comparable admissions software.
