Assistant Store Manager – Guelph Region

About the role

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in daily store operations, driving sales, managing staff, and ensuring a safe, customer‑focused environment. This permanent, full‑time position is based in the Guelph region and reports directly to the Store Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Help achieve weekly, period and fiscal year goals for sales, profit, margin, shrink and labour.
• Implement merchandising programs and maintain planograms.
• Work with Department Managers to set productivity goals and operational standards.
• Ensure health and safety compliance for employees and customers.
• Hire, train, direct and develop a customer‑focused team.
• Utilise new technology initiatives and maintain staff proficiency.
• Monitor local market competition and provide recommendations to Operations.
• Participate in community initiatives to enhance store image.

Required profile

• College or University education.
• 3 to 5 years progressive retail management experience (grocery preferred).
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong business acumen and communication abilities.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational and time‑management skills.
