Assistant Professor – Secure Software and Computer Systems

About the role

The School of Computer Science at McGill University invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position focused on secure software and computer systems. The appointment is expected to start on August 1, 2027 and will involve research, teaching, and service within a leading Canadian computer science department.

Key responsibilities

• Develop an independent research program in security or privacy of computer and software systems and secure competitive external funding.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students, and contribute to curriculum development.
• Provide service to the university, the broader academic profession, and society through committees, outreach, and collaborative projects.

Required profile

• PhD (or near completion) with expertise in security or privacy aspects of computer and software systems.
• Demonstrated interest in topics such as cybersecurity, network security, secure distributed computing, language/compiler security, hardware security, secure software development, applied cryptography, blockchain security, secure IoT, cyber‑physical systems, AI‑based cybersecurity, and privacy‑enhancing technologies.
• Eligibility to work in Canada and willingness to be based in Quebec.
