About the role

The Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at McGill University seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor to lead research in physical oceanography and to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an active, externally funded research program in physical oceanography.
• Supervise graduate students and mentor junior researchers.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in atmospheric and oceanic sciences.
• Participate in departmental service, including committees and outreach.

Required profile

• PhD in physical oceanography or a closely related field.
• Strong commitment to high‑quality teaching and mentorship.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct research with modelling, observational, or theoretical components.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
